There are also a number of other walks to choose from around Raglan.
Estuary Walk
Starting from the town side of the Wainui Road bridge this easy walk track follows the estuary edge around to Robertson road. Ask at the office for a Raglan District map and for directions.
Mount Karioi
Mount Karioi is the large mountain on the south side of Raglan. Though a challenging walk to its 756m high summit the view you will be rewarded with is well worth the effort. On a clear day you will see as far as Mt Taranaki.
Follow the Whaanga Road around to the Te Toto Gorge. From here you can either do a summit/return walk or arrange someone to pick you up at the other end so you can climb up side and down the other.
Remember to wear suitable footwear, carry extra clothing should the weather suddenly change and take plenty of water.
Allow 5-6 hours return.
Beach Walk
Simply step out of your tent, hop over through the dunes to the beach and head for the sunset.
With miles of sand ahead of you you are unlikely to run out of beach here so wonder on to your hearts content.
