Commitment
At Raglan Holiday Park Papahua, our commitment is to care for this special place in a way that supports both our guests and the environment around us. Set on the edge of Whāingaroa / Raglan Harbour, we believe being part of this landscape means doing our best to protect it, respect it and tread lightly while people enjoy it.
Caring for Our Environment
Sustainability is not just an idea for us — it is part of how we operate day to day. We are proud of initiatives that help reduce waste, support local growing, and encourage more thoughtful use of resources across the park. One example is Papahua Maara Kai, our community garden, which has been developed using permaculture principles and ecological growing techniques, with locally sourced compost, mulch and seeds, plus an on-site worm farm to support healthy soil.
The garden has become a meaningful part of the park experience, providing fresh produce, creating opportunities for children and visitors to learn about gardening and sustainability, and supporting the wider community through shared knowledge and donated surplus food. This work was recognised with the TIA Sustainable Innovation Award in 2024.
Supporting Local and Reducing Waste
Our commitment to sustainability also includes the choices we make about the products we use and offer. That is why we are proud to use Dreamview Milk — a local Raglan-based creamery with a strong environmental focus. Dreamview says it packages products in glass and other reusable packaging, supplies businesses with plastic-free milk systems, and highlights waste reduction as a core part of its model.
Dreamview is based in Raglan and lists Raglan Holiday Park among its stockists and partners, making it a natural fit for our commitment to local partnerships and lower-waste options. By supporting a nearby supplier with reusable packaging and local delivery, we can make a small but practical choice that aligns with the kind of future we want to help build here.
A Practical, Ongoing Commitment
We know sustainability is an ongoing journey. For us, that means continuing to look for practical ways to reduce waste, support local producers, care for our grounds responsibly and help guests connect with the natural environment that makes Papahua so special. Whether it is through community gardening, local sourcing, or everyday operational choices, we are committed to making decisions that contribute positively to Raglan and its surroundings.
Staying Connected to Place
Our goal is to offer more than a place to stay. We want Raglan Holiday Park Papahua to reflect the values of the community around it — care for the land, respect for place, and a genuine effort to do things well. Sustainability is part of that commitment, and we will keep building on it over time.
